  Architecture of The Taj

Taj Mahal in India embodies the architectural brilliance of Mughal era. Architecture of Taj Mahal is considered the finest example of Mughal period giving it the standard of being designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Taj Tomb:

The beautiful white marble tomb of Taj Mahal situated on a square platform is decked with an arch- shaped doorway which is topped by a large dome. The majestic Taj complex is stretched on 300 square meters of land and is embellished with beauteous Mughal gardens and the River Yamuna at its periphery.

The architecture design of Taj Mahal base was constructed on an elevation from the ground providing enough space for multi- chambered structures beneath the ground. The red sandstone base of the Taj and the beauteous tomb embedded with stunning fittings and furnishings is further enhanced by the red sandstone channels which are set between the rows of trees.

Taj TombThe tomb and plinth of the Taj Mahal took around 12 years to complete. The translucent white marble was brought from Rajasthan, Jasper from Punjab, jade and crystal from China and Lapix lazuli from Afghanistan. The tomb was decorated in pietra dura art. The entire tomb was decked with exquisitely cut and fitted fine stones

The Taj Garden:

The Taj complex is decked with lush green Charbagh, the Mughal garden. The garden is divided into four quarters which are further divided into flowerbeds. The garden is flourished on the typical Mughal garden style and features the raised marble water tank at the centre of the garden, a pool on North- South axis which reflects the image of Taj, India. The architecture of Taj Mahal most thoughtfully is decked with the garden that enhances the soothing ambiance of the place with its abundance of trees and fountains.

Taj Gateway:

The main gateway to Taj, India is an elegant structure which was built of marble in the typical Mughal architecture. The tomb is decorated with calligraphy at its pishtaq arches. The ceilings and walls of the Taj Gateway are elaborately decked with geometric designs and pietra dura decorations.
